My Quiz

For the past few weeks in Te ngahere we have been learning the kupu for kai. We have been doing a quiz so we write something in maori and put a picture in so they can have a clue, once we were finished we have to put the correct answer in so it can be fun to play.

Maromaku Sports day.

Sport day in Maromaku

On Friday the 29th of June we went to Maromaku to play sports. I played rugby with a whole lot of people. Waikare School needed about 4 people from our school to be in their term for the day because they did not have enough people.

The first school we played against was Pakaraka. We had a game playing against them and even though they won, I really enjoyed playing against Pakaraka.

The second game we had was a challenge because I think that we were coming a tie but they won. We did not care if we lost we just cared if we had fun.

The third game we played was really cool because we won. That was our first game we won on that day.

But the sad thing was that two people got hurt so they could not play. A girl named Alexi hurt her leg so she could not play for the last game. That was sad, and then a boy named Lesane was getting a try then this boy came and tackled him and he landed on his shoulder. Everyone was running to him because he was crying. My uncle Pep had to take him to Kawakawa hospital.

Bay Bush Action

Two weeks ago we had visitors named Stella and Brad they came to Paihia School and talked to the year 6, 7 and 8’s about the Bay Bush Action. They talked to us about how they set up traps for the pests in the ngahere. Lot’s of pests has been eating our native birds and their eggs. Then they took all of us down to our school field and set up some traps. One day later we went down and had a look to see if we caught anything, we did we caught a big rat and then we  got rid of it.

Food Chain

Last Term in Te Ngahere we made animations about Food Chains. We had a choice to work with someone or we work by our self.  We had to finish them in about one or two weeks. Then once everyone was finished our whole class got an hour of watching other people's animations also we had some popcorn while we were watching. It was interesting and fun.

Vanya Metaphors Poem.

In Te Ngahere  we have been learning how to use metaphors in our writing, also we made a poem about ourselves using metaphors. I did well at fixing some of the metaphors. I really enjoyed learning how to use metaphors I thought that it would be hard to use metaphors but when I had a go at metaphors I knew how to do it. Our Walt was to use language features appropriately showing a developing understanding of effect, this is my first draft.

Ocean Conservation

On Monday a cool lady came into Te Ngahere her name was Libby. She taught me all about Ocean Conservation. I learnt lots from her. Half an hour later the whole class went outside to pick up rubbish because in other countries there is lots of rubbish flying around and also floating in the sea.

Persuasive Writing

Should Plastic Bags Be Used At Supermarkets?

I think that New Zealand should get rid of plastic bags because sea animals always get hurt from the rubbish that is around them. Whenever turtles see plastic bags they think it is Jellyfish.

When ever people go shopping  at the supermarkets, some people take lots of plastic bag which people can not see the plastic bags because the other plastic bags are hiding behind the other plastic bags.

Plastic bags are used for containing and transporting goods such as foods, produce, powders, ice, magazines, chemicals, and waste.

Plastic bags tend to disrupt the environment in a serious way. They get into soil and slowly release toxic chemicals. They eventually break down into the soil, with the unfortunate consequence being that animals eat them and often choke and die.
